Evolution of Hip-Hop Music Industry

In the music industry, the album used to be the most important format for years. However, these days, the concept is different. As now a lot of artists are trying to change the importance of the medium. In fact, not just the medium, but they are also changing the name completely.

In 2015, Drake took a move, and the rapper showed the world that how productive he could be by dropping a couple of full-lengths, which were named called mixtapes.

Those of you, who are unfamiliar with the genre of music can also recognize that rap and hip-hop are not the same, what they used to be years ago. Before the year 2005, hip-hop or rap hit can be easily distinguished from a track released in the past decade. You will notice that in the early years, hip-hop music used to embrace a distinct tone with a relatively consistent theme of hood politics. But these days, the artists themselves maintained an image of gangster. Some of the biggest names in this industry are Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. For your kind information, these were reckoned drug dealers. Some of the renowned hip hop artists are even convicted criminals.

Some of the unbeaten rap hits spread the messages that were formerly unheard in the genre. Even the hip hop artists come from a various backgrounds. The famous rapper, Macklemore have some hints about the taboo subjects like homosexuality, while the artist Drake, who is a former Canadian child actor, proves that being a gangster is no longer a prerequisite to success.

Without any doubt, the conventional hip-hop industry as well artists have evolved over the past decade. At the same time some aspects of this evolution are obvious, as it is in the difficulty of these changes that the inextricable connection between social and musical development is discovered. Despite of having a reputation of violence and misogyny, the hip-hop genre is a uniquely genuine voice in the development of our culture.

Lyrics of the Hip-Hop genre are the most striking difference between 1990s hip-hop and latest tracks. In the previous years, usually hip-hop had a relatively narrow focus.

However, those who know about the hip-hop will find that earlier hip-hop music embraces honesty in their lyrics. The renowned lyricist, Poppa Sims, stressed openly about violence and drugs, while writing. With this, the 90s hip-hop artists forced listeners to think about the reasons behind such issues.

But these days, rappers want to develop their personality as artists. Every successful hip-hop artist rap about things from thrift shopping to the steep excess of their lifestyles. Modern artists are even less scared to show a softer side to relationships as well. Contradicting the themes of aggression and illegality that was the trend earlier in hip-hop genre, today’s hip-hop artists have taken a gentler approach towards romance. It is observed that from the mid 2000, the definition of who a rapper can be has changed completely. Even the Hip-hop stories and lyrics has expanded indefinitely.
